This is Carregal ,a typical Portuguese house ,or what we might call a smallholding, with barns and a small plot of land to the rear, which was built in the late 1800’s as a single story dwelling and had the upper floor added in 1942.It is a wonderful house, full of character and individuality, but then I am biased and all I can do is show you as much as possible about the house and the surrounding countryside so you can make up you own mind,. Most people will fall in love with  it at first sight and they have gone away with very fond memories of a happy and enjoyable stay.

 

Carregal is a village about five kilometers from the market town of Alvaiazere  in Central Portugal far from the madding crowds of the Algarve, but in an area which has so many different aspects in both countryside and amenities.

 

The following pages are all about the house, the renovation with all its trials and tribulations, the people, links to other sites with more details about specific areas in more depth than I can manage ,but above all please note it is what is called “under construction” so it will be constantly added to , and be updated.

 

Carregal is available to rent for holidays all year round and can sleep up to five people.

Rentals are from £199.00 per week, including cleaning , towels and bed linen .
