The way into the house used to be  through this door, or you would go up the stone steps to the balcony using the double doors opening into the living room.

The old living room is now the principle bedroom

The Adega held the wine press and the barrels and bottled wine, or going even further back in time, animals were kept there during the winter months and their body heat would rise and help to warm up the house.

For the mid winter when nights can get a little chilly, there electric are oil filled radiators.

ADEGA

Originally this was the door to the “Adega”, Wine cellar or store, (you can go to the As We Were page to see the photos of how the house looked before purchase) which has been converted to kitchen/dining room, but is now the main entrance.

This is the front door to the house, under the balcony.

The red curtain left denotes the position of the front door and to the left of this is the food cupboard that came with the house, now used as drinks and food cupboard.

Bottom pictures shows the rustic stairs going up to the first floor, and at the bottom of the stairs is the half glazed door going through to the “Bakery”, so called as it still has the bread oven

Right is the door to the rear veranda with added windows, giving more light and a view to the rear. The original beams to the ceiling have been kept, and a new tiled floor installed.
